Forty years and a lifetime’s achievement

One of the lead industry’s most understated stalwarts has received a lifetime achievement award in India, 40 years to the day after starting his career.
Mark Stevenson, the Technical Director of Global Lead Technologies, received the award at the International Lead Zinc Development Conference in Mumbai.
Announcing the honour, Dr Andy Bush, Managing Director of the International Lead Association, described Mark as a highly professional metallurgist with a genuine passion for and commitment to the industry.
He said: “Mark has a limitless willingness to help anyone who truly wants to see the industry succeed. He took over running the Asian Battery Conference and has turned it into one of the premier lead battery events in the world. It is fitting that he is being honoured for a lifetime’s achievement as he celebrates 40 years working in the lead industry.”
A graduate of the University of Sydney Mark started his career at the former Australian mining group Pasminco, and has served companies including Ecoult and Ecobat Technologies. He is Chairman of the Asian Battery Conference.
