ILA member, Clarios donates $100,000 to combat COVID-19 in India
As part of a global effort by UNICEF, ILA member Clarios has pledged US$100,000 to combat COVID-19 in India. These funds will go directly to acquiring oxygen and rapid COVID-19 testing across the country.
UNICEF put out a call for private sector support at the end of April as India’s second wave of COVID-19 took hold. UNICEF USA raised more than $10 million from over 15 companies in just three weeks.
Clarios has donated to UNICEF through The Clarios Foundation. The Clarios Foundation was established in 2020 to support the company’s strategic priorities through three focus areas: Children’s Health and the Environment, Circular Economy Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Communities.
Clarios has also pledged an additional $250,000 to organisations in the United States, Europe, China and Latin America to aid in global COVID-19 relief efforts.
“UNICEF’s focus includes health education for vulnerable populations, supply distribution for healthcare facilities and health and nutrition services for pregnant women and young children. The funds will help provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontline health workers, education for millions of children who are out of school, and prevention messaging to vulnerable communities around the world.” said John Barkhouse, interim CEO and chairman, Clarios.
