Safe recycling workshop in Bangladesh
ILA’s technical consultant Brian Wilson held a four-day interactive workshop on safe lead battery recycling and manufacturing in Bangladesh.
Using a benchmarking assessment tool – which is designed to help regulators and government officials to inspect lead battery recycling and manufacturing facilities – the workshop covered all aspects of occupational safety, plant safety and environmental performance.
The project is a partnership between UNICEF, NGOs and the four industry associations supporting industry’s material stewardship initiative, LeadBattery360.
As part of the workshop, Bangladesh-based Rahimafrooz Batteries hosted a field trip for delegates to visit one of the company’s lead battery recycling plants and lead battery manufacturing operations to undertake a benchmarking assessment tool health and safety assessment.
